History :
It is heard that perambakkam got this name from Ramayana period, during Ramayana war ravanan was hiding in this place so, Rama decided kill Ravana . He made one huge bow(in tamil ambu). The exact meaning of that big bow in tamil is payrambu(means big bow). That bow was made in this place only, after which this place got the name perambakkam=parambu+aakam (aakam means made).

About the Sholeeshwarar Temple
Sholeeshwarar temple is situated in perambakkam.which is built by King Chola before 900 years back. The temple is famous for cureing nervous disorders like paralysis, neruo disorders, brain disorders etc.,.
Special pooja :
Special pooja – Parigara Pooja on every Mondays is performed here for getting relief from All Nervous problems of the devotees.
Procedure for getting cured from the Nervous disorder with the blessing of the Lord Sholeeshwarar :
Step 1: Go to the temple on a Monday (temple is open on all Mondays from 7 am till 9 pm), meet the people in temple office (they will guide you very clearly), pay for the abishekam Rs 100 + Rs 50 if you need the prasadam courired to your home. You need to do abishekam for 7 Mondays continuously. Out of which 1st and 7th week Mondays the patient devotee should be physically present. All poojs items will be provided by the temple office itself.
Step 2: you have to go around the temple worshipping the Lord Sholeeshwarar for 5 times,
Step 3: see the beautiful scene - abishekam of the lord. A speciality here is they powder the vilvam leaf and perform abishekam, during which you can oberser nerves strands on the Lingam, whichs states that the lord cures all nervous issues. It is a great BOON and a MIRACLE!!
Step 4 : The prasadam is a packet full of Vibudhi and Vilvam powder. The patient / devotee should add a pinch of Vibudhi and Vilvam powder and add it in a glass of water and drink it daily till he gets the next week prasadam.
Step 5 : After completing the six weeks, on the seventh week Monday need to do the final nevardhi pooja in the temple followed by abishekam to God Sholeeshwarar and Goddess Kamatchi.
